Pepperdine University is highly esteemed academically. It is located in Malibu,California with nearby communities such as Agoura, Calabasas, Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica. Ideally, the housing should be within 30 minutes commute time or less. Other priorities may include special interests one may have — such as ability to surf in prime locations, desire to live in a quiet neighborhood, desire to not drive in a canyon, desire to cook comfortably or not cook at all, and be conveniently close to grocery store/eateries.
It can be reasonably managed if one had a roommate - probably 2 or 3 maximum persons to share rental unit and utilities. Look at the posting board at Pepperdine for available housing or someone seeking a roommate. Most places in Malibu are on a septic system so it is important to be upfront with the landlord the total number of occupants in a residence.
The choices to find housing are (1) ask a realtor such as Judy Kunisaki (2) view the weekly rental ads in the local newspapers - Malibu Times or Malibu Surfside news or Agoura Hills Acorn (Agoura Hills/Calabasas) –the landlords will usually advertise directly in these newspapers seeking to rent it directly themselves to the tenant (3) consider purchasing a townhome for the duration at Pepperdine – in the past, these have appreciated well to have covered the education costs in some instances — of course, location is key.
Everyone has different housing needs. There is a solution for every housing budget –so don’t lose hope. The students will make lifelong friendship at Pepperdine — that in itself is an enriching experience!
