New Residential Development Proposed at the former Crummer site in Malibu,California
Developer proposes to build Malibu Mesa Estates as a gated community for five homes and a Pony League baseball field as well as other city amenities.
New development is being proposed in Malibu, California as noted by the local May 10, 2007 newspapers - Malibu Surfside News and Malibu Times. It evolves around the prime 24 acre property in the heart of Malibu that was once owned by the Crummer family. This parcel is just across the street from the Malibu Bluffs Park.
As the new owner, AZ Winter Mesa LLC is proposing to build a balance of five homes known as the Malibu Mesa Estates as well as a "Pony League baseball field, create two separate areas for public use which could be used as picnic areas, tot lot and/or a dog park at the city’s option and expand the current Bluffs Park parking lot by adding about 35 additional spaces" noted in the Malibu Surfside News.
Richard Ackerman leads the AZ Winter Mesa LLC. The residential area will be gated. The five homes will range in size from 9,500 to 11,000 square feet on lots that vary in size from 2.5 acres to 3.75 acres. It appears the AZ Winter Mesa LLC intends to stay within the city and zoning laws to build this enclave of homes.
The views from these sites are highly desirable with expansive ocean views and city light views of the Queen’s necklace. Richard Ackerman and the AZ Winter Mesa LLC should be commended for engaging in the needs of the city and incorporating a balanced approach to this development for a maximum win-win.
