One of Malibu’s Greatest Assets Needs Protection
Coastal Commission run contest to promote preserving the coastline!
One of the greatest assets Malibu has is its location on the Southern Californian Coast. With a large number of homes in the area taking advantage of this ‘million-dollar’ view it is no wonder it needs protecting.
This coastline is continually under threat by various environmental factors. The California Coastal Commission was set up to preserve this coastline for all those who live in and visit the area and for the plentiful natural wildlife that inhabits its coves and cliff tops.
With this in mind the commission has announced a contest (as published in the Malibu Times) designed to promote the commissions work and as a way for the public to see that it is not just them who do preservation work.
They invite members of the public to submit stories and/or photos of ways in which they have acted as a ‘California Coastal Steward’. The aim is to collect a number of stories and allow the public to vote on the most unique and inspirational story where someone has done a deed to protect the coastline and ocean. The winner will receive a Coast Lovers Prize Package.
Entries must be received by August 1st - more details are available on the website www.coastforyou.org.
