New Hotel Coming Soon To The Heart of Malibu, California

Richard Weintraub Plans 146 Room Hotel On Site Originaly Owned By The Adamson Family.

A new hotel is planned in Malibu, California on the property owned by Richard Weintraub.  As reported by the Malibu Times on July 5, 2007, the 28 acre parcel is "formed by the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu Canyon and CIvic Center Way."  This property had been owned by the Adamson Family.  Originally in 1998, City Council had approved the Adamson Hotel.  It still required the Coastal Commission approval to be able to build it.

It had been approved in 1998 to be built in two phases - with 106 rooms initially and then 40 rooms after two to five years after it was observed that are no significant negative impact to the community.  Instead, Weintraub proposes to build all 146 rooms at the same time.

Using Hotel Bel-Air as the model, Weintraub wants to build 16 villas with private courtyards, many of the rooms to have bay views, spa, gym, tennis courts, a "fun coffee shop like the one they have at the Beverly Hills Hotel", fine dining restaurant and a Chumash cultural center.  He plans on filing the coastal development permit with the Malibu City by end of this summer.  For the complete story, please read the front page story at The Malibu Times dated July 5, 2007.
