New California Driving Law changes to prohibit Cell Phone Usage
Gov. Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill that will make it illegal for under 18's to use a cell phone behind the wheel
As a father of two teenager drivers himself Gov. Scwarzenegger has first hand experience himself of teenage drivers.
He has signed into law a new bill that will make it an offense for under 18 drivers to use a cell phone behind the wheel (including using hands free) as well as text messaging devices and laptops.
The measure is hoped to make California’s roads safer by cutting down on this leading cause of road traffic accidents.
The measure would also affect adults who would after July 1st 2008 when the law comes into effect as they would be required to use hands free kits if using a cell phone behind the wheel.
Although the measure is not popular with all teenage drivers, it will hopefully cut down fatalities on the roads and traffic accidents as a whole which area a leading cause of delays as well as deaths.
The new law would enable violators to possibly be fined $20 for a first offense and $50 for repeat offenses.
With reference to the scenic Pacific Coastal Highway, which offers one of the most beautiful drives in the world, why would you want to be on your cell phone anyway?! Why not just enjoy the breathtaking view!
