Malibu Local Development: Shock Decision on La Paz Shopping Center By Planning Commission

The Malibu planning commission made a shock decision on the planned La Paz shopping center development which has been in the pipeline for many months when it voted 3 to 2 against giving the development the go ahead!

This stunning move by Planning Commissioners Ed Gillespie and Jeff Jennings voted against the move slating that the last minute change was unjust. Whereas Commissioners  Regan Schaar and John Mazza agreed with the motion proposed by Planning Commission Chair Joan House who proposed that the public hearing on the matter be removed.

The project has been in the planning stages for so long and involved the development of 15.2 acres of land which would be divided into retail, restaurant and office space as well as a new city hall. The retail and office space would contain approximately 110,000 square feet of usable space.
