Malibu Development: Malibu City Council Continue With Construction With Rambla Pacifico Access Road

Rambla Pacifico, an area of homes in Malibu with limited road access and in danger of wild fires is finally getting the emergency access road it has been in desperate need for.

Last year we reported that the road plan was set back by the rising cost which would be born by the homeowners. There are currently 65 homeowners in the homeowners associated who are slated to pay the cost.

Despite legal issues over the issuance of an emergency construction permit the city council is seeking permission for a coastal development permit to construct the badly needed road which will allow firefighters access in the event of an emergency.

It is estimated the cost of construction for the new road will be between $1.5 million and $2.5 million. Many homeowners in the Rambla Pacifico area have been campaigning for an access road to the Pacific Coast Highway since the mid 1990′s. The road would save the detour of many miles for firefighters and emerygency vehicles in the event of a wildfire or other disaster.

The construction of this road and the many hurdles which the homeowners are looking likely to have to jump is interesting to note and will be something which the entire community will watch with interest in the coming weeks.
