World history was made yesterday with the inauguration of the first African American President of the United States.
Barack Obama took the oath of office in front of a crowd of an estimated two million in the National Mall – surely there were some visitors from Malibu and Southern California to the nations capital for this historic event?
As well as the millions worldwide who saw the event on television and over the internet.
During election time, Malibu really was full of support from local voters. With ambitious plans and plenty of support nationwide, the new president may face many challenges but he really does believe that change can be achieved through his and his administration policy proposals. His plans for housing are definitely a step in the right direction. Released back in November, the new administration is looking at wide scale mortgage and lending reform to ensure continued access by all to a variety of mortgage products and low rates.
Also the potential new $800 billion stimulus package is keeping the politicians and press interested in Washington as the ambitious plans are roughed out for presentation to congress as soon as possible.
Like all Americans, we wish our new President well and the best of luck in undertaking the coveted role of leader of our country and the free world.
