Malibu California Development – City Council Gives Go Ahead For Trancas Park!

The hot topic of Malibu’s Trancas Park development looks like it may finally be resolved! In a meeting this Monday the City Council agreed to issue permission for the parks development to get underway.

Trancas Park is a seven acre public park on a 13.5 acre site located at 6050 Trancas Canyon Road, Malibu. It is approximately one half mile north of the intersection of Trancas Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway, will contain a multipurpose sports field, a basketball half-court, picnic area, dog park, a restroom/maintenance building, storage building, onsite wastewater treatment system, parking area and a storm water detention basin. The total preconstruction cost is estimated to be $610,000, and the total construction cost at approximately $3.4 million.

Residents were overjoyed at the prospect of the park being developed. Those in favor included many elementary, middle and high school students. The opposition were concerned about fire and earthquake hazards but the council decided to issue the permits to start the development.

This is great news for Malibu and will give local residents yet more facilities to make use of!
