Malibu California Real Estate: Malibu Projects Under Scrutiny From California Coastal Commission

We hope that everyone had a happy forth of July. Here in Malibu there were excellent firework displays which were free to view by the public in the area! As usual there were barges offshore which carried out the displays as fireworks are illegal in Malibu due to the fire risk. We hope that you enjoyed the holiday with your family.

Along the coast here in Malibu there are several projects which have come under scrutiny of the California Coastal Commission.

According to the Malibu Times, these projects include an application to allow the permanent existence of a 500-foot long rock revetment along the west bank of Malibu Creek, a request for after-the-fact approval for an equestrian facility; and the issuance of a Cease and Desist Order for unpermitted development on Carbon Beach that blocks a public access way to the beach. This access issue is effected due to unpermitted development at Lisette Ackerberg’s Carbon Beach home. The unpermitted development, obstructs vertical and lateral public access easements, according to a commission staff report, and includes a rock riprap, a nine-foot high wall, a generator and associated concrete slab, a fence, railing, planter, light posts and landscaping.

The commission will meet July 8, 10 a.m., at San Luis Obispo County Government Center, board of supervisors chambers, 1055 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo, CA to discuss these issues. Watch this space for more information!
