When it comes to moving or any kind of relocation there are many things to consider.
Often poor Fido is forgotten in the chaos that is moving house! – Experts tell us that pets thrive on routine and a disruption to that routine can really effect them and their behavior.
So, I hear you ask. How can you manage this in the best way during a house move? Well, there are some simple steps and advice you can take to minimize the stress on your pet thanks to the folks at Realty Times.
1. Visit your vet – make sure to get a copy of your pets medical files, ensure all vaccinations are up to date and that your supplies of their medications are plentiful.
2. Microchip your pet! It gives an extra level of protection if your pet loses their collar or tags.
3. Prepare a pet friendly area in your current home and new home – this helps show your dog, cat etc that they have their own space, away from all the chaos!
4. Maintain your “Pet routine” throughout the process – if you walked your dog in the morning and night at your old home, continue this process in the new home.
5. New digs, means new hang outs – for your new home, seek out local pet supply stores, parks and the like. New exciting places for you to take your pet!
